A Reflexology treatment gives you time away from your busy life to focus purely on yourself and your growing baby.
Huge changes in hormone levels and anxieties and concerns can leave you feeling delighted, anxious, nervous and excited all at once.
Reflexology will leave you feeling deeply relaxed. It’s great for de-stressing and calming your mind. It can also alleviate any side effects you are experiencing such as nausea or headaches.
Second & Third Trimester
Most of the discomforts of early pregnancy have gone. Yet as the baby grows you may begin to experience other physical symptoms. Your stress levels may also rise as the birth becomes more imminent.
Reflexology can be used for general wellbeing or to address other symptoms as they arise such as sleeping problems or back pain.
Preparation for Labour
As your due date approaches, you may choose to have more frequent Reflexology treatments as it will help support the body to prepare for labour and promote relaxation especially if your anxiety levels are high.
There is lots of anecdotal evidence from women who feel they have benefitted from reflexology throughout their pregnancy. Two recent studies have shown that reflexology in pregnancy significantly reduced pain during labour (1) and improved quality of sleep in post-natal women (2).
I’m proud of the Maternity Reflexology training I have received with Susanne Enzer, Author of Maternity Reflexology Manual, I’ve learnt lots of techniques which enable me to help support pregnant women with reflexology, especially if they have any minor ailments or want to prepare for a natural labour.
