Today, women in their forties and upwards are balancing the heavy demands of looking after a family and having a paid job whilst at the same time having to keep on top of changing health and well-being needs. As women we are used to our monthly cycles but as we get older we can start to experience new symptoms.
Symptoms such as unusually light or heavy periods, headaches, difficulty sleeping, hot flushes/ night sweats, UTIs, IBS, change in libido, skin dryness are all associated with peri-menopause. Coping with peri-menopausal symptoms and caring for children, often young children still in nappies, is exhausting and at work it can be embarrassing coming over all hot and red or forgetting our train of thought in a serious conversation.
It’s no wonder many of us ladies over 40 are feeling tired and lacklustre and in need of some me time to get on top of our health and well-being. We can no longer be so busy caring for others that we ignore how we are feeling. As a Wife, Mother, Daughter we need to concentrate on our health and well-being too. Only then can we be the best at helping others.
Reflexology is a fantastic and effective treatment for supporting ladies through these times. Reflexology gives you relaxation time. It reduces tension, improves mood, aids sleep and helps us to feel better and therefore cope with life more easily.
What happens at your first Reflexology treatment
All treatments start with a health and well-being consultation in which we can discuss how you are feeling, what your symptoms are and what you’d like to achieve from your treatments. You can choose from Foot reflexology or Facial Reflexology. Facial Reflexology is particularly good at boosting how you feel about yourself as the massage and pressure points used give the face a boost and ladies leave the treatment room relaxed and glowing. Reflexology relieves tension which softens the face.
As part of any reflexology treatment I recommend aftercare and can advise you on how to treat yourself at home and make lifestyle suggestions on additional things you can do to manage your symptoms in between treatments.
